Recently, Amazon announced that the annual holiday peak delivery fee will be raised, and the new rate will take effect from October 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024.
In this statement, Amazon particularly emphasized that the average delivery cost of Amazon is still about 30% lower than the standard cost of other third-party logistics providers, including the holiday peak delivery cost.
It is understood that this year’s holiday peak delivery fee will apply to FBA in the United States, FBA in Canada, Amazon remote delivery plan and multi-channel delivery (MCF). It should be noted that American FBA goods priced below $10 are not included in this range, which is a positive factor for some low-priced goods, but it may also encourage some sellers to take the initiative to reduce prices.
In response to the seller’s question, Amazon said that these fees reflect the economy of providing fulfillment services to the seller, and stressed: “Our goal is to provide a stable and predictable sales environment for the seller, and new rates will be introduced only when absolutely necessary.”
However, the seller did not buy it. Last year, when Amazon announced that it would raise the holiday delivery fee, it also gave a similar explanation, which did not satisfy the seller at that time. This problem reappeared this year, which caused many sellers’ dissatisfaction. Many sellers flocked to Amazon’s forums and expressed their opposition with emotion, saying that Amazon was charging more and more fees to sellers, and some sellers were already unbearable.
Not long ago, Amazon’s latest second-quarter financial report showed that Amazon’s third-party seller service revenue was $32.3 billion, which has reached 81% of its self-operated business. At the same time, revenue in the second quarter increased by 11% year-on-year, and net profit soared by 433% compared with the same period last year.
Unfortunately, Amazon’s revenue growth has not brought more benefits to sellers. On the contrary, all kinds of increasing service fees make sellers more stressed. Many sellers have said that the increase in Amazon’s fees has led to a sharp increase in their costs. In order to maintain profits, we have to raise the price. However, after the price increase, the goods become more difficult to sell and fall into an infinite loop.
