Amazon recently released their annual U.S. Small Business Empowerment Report, detailing how the company’s investments, innovations, and initiatives in sellers have helped them increase their product sales. According to the report, more than 60 percent of Amazon’s store sales come from third-party independent sellers, most of which are small and medium-sized businesses, providing consumers with a large selection of products.
Third-party independent sellers in the United States sold more than 4.1 billion products in the Amazon store in 2022, an average of 7,800 products per minute, and exported more than 260 million products, according to the report’s data. Amazon invests billions of dollars a year to provide sellers with an ever-improving set of valuable tools to help them quickly launch on Amazon’s store, expand, and reach more consumers. In the U.S., the top categories for consumer purchases are: health and personal care, home, beauty, groceries and clothing.
